Case Study - The Royal Chester Hotel, Nagasaki, Japan

The owners of the Royal Chester Hotel in Nagasaki wanted to create a distinctively European flavour for their new hotel so they visited Lyons Corner House's gallery in London and selected 50 paintings to create a luxurious ambience of style and refinement. They chose a variety of Constable, Turner and Reynolds landscapes for the dining rooms and hallways with some distinguished portraits by Gainsborough, Bellini and Titian in the lounge areas and a selection of smaller country scenes for the bedrooms. The richness and vibrancy of the oil paintings promote a feeling of timeless elegance which makes the guest feel he is in the old-fashioned comfort of an English stately home.
